Bye Week Shenanigans: W&M-NFL Player Comparisons

Naturally, we at the William & Mary Sports Blog are not only obsessed with William & Mary sports, but also with professional sports. As brothers, we were raised to love our Buffalo Bills. No, this was not by choice. It is the family curse. Our dad grew up in the bitterly cold Buffalo suburb of Tonawanda, NY, thus igniting decades of stress and misfortune. Through faithfully following a team that currently holds the longest active playoff drought in all professional sports (17 years), we’ve had our fair share of heartbreaking moments. But it’s not all bad: guess who our new Head Coach is? Oh, that’s right. It’s Sean McDermott, and he went to William & Mary. Roll Damn Tribe to that. We’d love nothing more than Sean to turn our beloved Bills around, and truly believe he’s the right man for the job.

The truth is, we like to think that we know a little something about the NFL. Boasting a combined 5 fantasy football teams between the two of us, you could say we’re “subject matter experts” in the field, if you will. Obviously, we should have our own sports talk show akin to Matthew Berry at this point. But in the meantime, we’ll combine our William & Mary football smarts with what knowledge we have about the NFL to draw some comparisons to keep you entertained on this off-week. There are certainly players on our team that remind us, both in playing style and stature, of NFLers doing it big in the league today. Because…what else is more fun to do on a bye week? Roll Tribe Roll.
