A few weeks ago, the W&M Sports Blog published an article detailing William & Mary’s recent announcement about a new and improved basketball court in Kaplan Arena. An image was released on Tribe Athletics’ Instagram page, showing the beginnings of a project meant to give our basketball court the major facelift it really needs. I mean, whose idea was it to put the Tribe logo in YELLOW…really?!

However, with the Instagram post, Tribe Athletics did not release any details regarding what the court will look like, and we’re still trying to figure out if this is just a minor upgrade or if it will noticeably change the look of the court. Rumors are that we may know as soon as THIS WEEK about the new court design. Either way, we at the W&M Sports Blog released a poll a few weeks ago asking YOU, the fans, what logo you would like to see at center court. Tribe nation has spoken.

With an impressive 155 votes, it came to a dead heat between two logos: the Cursive Tribe logo and the W&M Cypher. Debate going into the poll raged about whether or not the Cypher would be recognizable to non-Virginian viewers watching the Tribe play on national television. Some fans argued that the Cypher is all but unrecognizable outside the friendly confines of Williamsburg, and W&M would be better suited to spell out its school name, “William & Mary” for better advertising/marketing during televised games.

However, there are others who prefer the Cypher logo, and who simply think it looks awesome. After all, how can you teach people that the Cypher symbolizes William & Mary if you don’t use it anywhere? Even after all this debate, in the end, fans voted for the Cursive Tribe logo to remain at center court–not for the Cypher or for the “William & Mary” logo. But this got us thinking. Would fans prefer the Cursive Tribe logo in green or would they prefer it remain yellow, as it already is? On top of that, is there even enough of a vote differential to definitively say that Tribe fans prefer the Cursive Tribe logo over the W&M Cypher; are more votes needed?

In order to set this straight once and for all, and of course to build up hype for the “new” court design (soon to be released, we hope), we ask you to vote one more time! Once and for all, which of the three below designs would YOU like to see at center court in Kaplan Arena: a green Cursive Tribe, gold Cursive Tribe, the W&M Cypher, or a yellow Cursive Tribe?
