TRIBE HOCKEY PLAYS FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Last Sunday at the Winston-Salem Fairground the William and Mary Ice Hockey team clinched yet another league championship to add to the trophy case. This marked the second league championship in the last three years and the third year in a row that Tribe Hockey has played for a league championship. The Tribe has won three league championships in its brief history as a program, with the first championship coming in 2011 before two wins in the last three years.

Tribe Hockey was founded in 1987, but it was not until the last few years where the team really found success. Tribe Hockey plays in the Division III Elite division of the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League. The South Division consists of numerous teams from around the Commonwealth including Tribe rivals Old Dominion and Virginia Military Institute.

While the team is currently coed, Tribe Hockey is currently gauging interest for a women’s ice hockey team and will look to expand its success even more!

But the Tribe is not done yet. William and Mary will play for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (yes you read that right) this weekend in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The top teams in the nation were all split into pools based on their national ranking and will each play three games. The top four teams will advance to the Semi-finals for a chance to play for a national championship. You can find all the details on the Tribe’s big weekend below!

The Tribe kicks off its bid for a national title TODAY at 9 am against top-ranked Miami. Worried you can’t watch the Tribe? Worry no more, because all three games will be streamed for free on blackdoghockey.com so you will not miss a second of the action. We’ll be watching. Will YOU?

Best of luck to Tribe Hockey this weekend in PA! Go make us proud!
